Door County Surprise Proposal | Cave Point County Park

On a windy spring evening at Cave Point County Park, Carson led his soon-to-be fiancé out onto one of the park's rocky overlooks with nothing but Lake Michigan stretching behind them. Despite the breeze, the shoreline was quiet, giving them the rare feeling of having one of Door County's most iconic locations all to themselves as he got down on one knee.

There's something special about photographing proposals at Cave Point. The dramatic limestone cliffs, endless lake views, and ever-changing conditions make every visit a little different, but it's beautiful no matter the weather. Together, we planned a location and timing that would give them privacy while making the most of the scenery—and everything came together exactly as we'd hoped.

Afterward, we spent some time exploring the shoreline for portraits, letting the waves, rocky cliffs, and evening light create a relaxed backdrop for the start of their engagement. Later, Carson shared that he "would not have been able to do it without the planning support”, which means just as much to me as the photographs themselves.
