On one of the hottest afternoons of the summer, this couple gathered with their closest family for an intimate elopement at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison. With temperatures soaring outside, the Capitol turned out to be the perfect place for their ceremony—beautiful, historic, and comfortably indoors.

They exchanged vows beneath the incredible architecture of the Capitol Rotunda, surrounded by just their immediate family. The space has such an elegant feel on its own that very little is needed to make a small ceremony here feel special.

After the ceremony, we spent some time exploring the Capitol for portraits before heading outside into the sunshine. The Capitol grounds gave us plenty of variety without needing to travel anywhere else, from the grand exterior and columns to greenery and views around downtown Madison.
